Traditional Canadian spruce gum, personally wild-harvested by our family in Canadian forests and carefully prepared by us here in Alberta. A firm, long-lasting forest chew made from 100% tree pitch with no added sweeteners, beeswax, fillers or synthetic gum base.

Our Canadian Spruce Gum is made primarily from wild-harvested spruce resin. We blend in a small amount of pine resin for added elasticity, helping create the firm, long-lasting chew Alberta Wildcraft is known for.

Traditional spruce gum is chewing gum in one of its simplest forms: natural tree pitch prepared into a firm, durable chew. There is no added sweetness and no commercial-style gum base.

Traditional spruce gum chews very differently from commercial gum. The first bite can be surprising, but once you understand how the tree pitch behaves, forming your chew becomes much easier.
This is natural, durable spruce gum — not sweet, commercial-style bubble gum.
For those familiar with mastic gum, Canadian spruce gum offers a northern tree-resin alternative with a strong, long-lasting chew often sought after in jawline gums. Traditional spruce resin gum offers a very different experience from conventional chewing gum, with its natural forest flavour, firm texture and simple tree-pitch ingredients.

Has spruce resin been scientifically studied?
Yes. Spruce and pine resins have been examined in ethnobotanical and laboratory research, including research involving white spruce, black spruce and lodgepole pine — the same tree species we harvest for our resin gum.
Research has also examined chewing, saliva flow and the role saliva plays in the oral environment.

Food-regulatory sources show that some conventional chewing-gum bases can contain synthetic polymer ingredients. A 2025 pilot study presented by the American Chemical Society also detected microplastic particles released into saliva from both synthetic and natural commercial gums tested.
Aspartame is also permitted for use as an artificial sweetener in chewing gum. In 2023, IARC classified aspartame as “possibly carcinogenic to humans” (Group 2B), while JECFA reaffirmed its existing acceptable daily intake and Health Canada continues to permit aspartame at approved levels.
