Wildcrafted By Us

We know where the wild ingredients came from.

Because we were the ones gathering them.

Boreal Blend is made in small batches from forest plants we personally harvest and prepare ourselves before bringing them together into the finished blend.

That's what wildcrafted means here — staying connected to the plants, the harvest and the finished product.

Know The Blend

Different parts of the forest, working together.

Boreal Blend isn't simply a mix of evergreen needles. It combines foliage, bark and fruit, giving the finished infusion much more depth than any one plant could provide alone.

Pine Needles

Pine forms part of the evergreen foundation of the blend, bringing the unmistakable aroma and character of fresh conifer.

Spruce Tips

Spruce tips add another layer of bright evergreen character and are softer and more delicate than mature spruce needles.

Western Red Cedar

Cedar brings a deeper aromatic note that helps give Boreal Blend its distinctive northern-forest character.

Birch Bark

Birch bark adds depth beneath the brighter evergreen notes and helps give the finished infusion its fuller character.

Wild Rose Hips

Rose hips add a wild-fruit component to a blend otherwise built largely from evergreen foliage and bark.

Traditional Winter Plants

A blend that makes sense when winter settles in.

Evergreen needles, bark and wild fruits have long been used in northern herbal traditions, particularly through the colder part of the year when the landscape offers a very different selection of plants than it does in summer.

Pine, spruce, cedar, birch and rose hips each have their own histories in traditional seasonal preparations. Boreal Blend brings those plants together into the kind of strong forest infusion we reach for during winter and cold-and-flu season.

Pine + Spruce

Evergreen needles and tips have long appeared in northern winter infusions and traditional plant preparations.

Cedar + Birch

Cedar and birch also have long histories of traditional use in northern plant preparations and decoctions.

Rose Hips

Rose hips have traditionally been gathered as both a wild food and an ingredient in winter teas and other preparations.

In The Cup

It tastes like Christmas.

This isn't a tart tea and it isn't a delicate floral blend. Boreal Blend is rich, deeply aromatic and unmistakably evergreen.

Think fresh pine and spruce brought indoors, warm winter air, cedar and the smell of a Christmas tree filling the room. That's the character of this blend.

Proper Preparation

Don't treat this like ordinary tea.

Boreal Blend contains tougher forest materials including needles and bark. A quick 10 or 15 minute steep doesn't give them enough time and wastes much of what this blend has to offer.

Step 01 Place the herbs into a pot of water.
Step 02 Bring the water just to the point where it first begins to boil.
Step 03 Immediately reduce to the lowest gentle simmer.
Step 04 Simmer gently for approximately one hour.
Gentle simmer — not a rolling boil.

As soon as the water first begins to boil, turn the heat down. Keep it at the lowest simmer for the remainder of the hour, then strain the plant material before drinking.

Drink it hot or chilled.

Enjoy Boreal Blend warm straight from the pot, or cool and refrigerate it for a chilled forest infusion. A little honey can also be added if you prefer a sweeter cup.
